Road Trip!

Last month I got to take a little vacation with my babies to visit Sleeping Bear Dunes.
Okay, so they're not really MY babies, but since I don't have any I just adopt everyone else's. This means I can spoil them and then give them back. ;)
We stopped at all sorts of places as we made our way there and back.
One of the places we stopped at was the Grand Traverse Lighthouse, Est. in 1858.
Probably one of the coolest places we went, especially since it was sunset on the beach with tons of rocks.

See, I really do live in the best place! :)

My Babies are Growing Up!

A pic I took on a recent visit with the babies. :)
I will have more to upload later, but I couldn't wait on this one. :)
It was hat day. :) I'm not sure if I like the edit on this one, I may have to revisit it later.  Maybe I'll put it up in color instead. Hmmm...

Well, the pics were mostly of little man because miss lady wouldn't cooperate. But there are a couple of her.
I told you, hat day. :)

It's More of a Need

Have you ever heard
"I want a boy who will build me bookshelves."
 My situation is slightly different.
I need a boy who will build me bookshelves.
I suppose if he wants to toss in a library and a cup of coffee while he's at it I wouldn't object. :)
Hey, as long as I'm dreamin' here I may as well shoot for the moon. ;)
Okay, so maybe I don't really need bookshelves...yet, but I will very soon if I keep hitting the book lovers' jackpot.
I went shopping today with my mom and two of my sisters. At one place I found several book series in good condition, how could I not get them?
If only you could have seen the look of shock on my mother's face as I approached her with a stack of books reaching up to my chin.
"You're not getting all those are you?!"
 I did.
There are going to be many sleepless nights around here until I've finished all these.

Practice, Practice and More Practice

I stopped taking pictures for a few months while helping to care for my great grandmother.
But I do have some ideas for photos and just need to get around to taking them.

Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire:  it is the time for home.  ~Edith Sitwell

The Late Birthday

One of the nice things about celebrating your birthday late, is that  you get to prolong the celebration. :)

Last Saturday my brother took me out for a belated birthday.
He took me to this place.
It just happens to be his favorite restaurant. ;) An inside family joke.
The menu and specials are written on chalkboards.

We also went to the Gourmet Market. I'd been wanting to go there for a while now but I always showed up on the one day it was closed.

Orange Chicken and Asian Soup

Today's dinner.
  Mmmm... :)

I made you hungry, didn't I? :)

"It's no longer a question of staying healthy."

"It's a question of finding a sickness you like." - J.M.
I have only once in my life had a sickness I liked.
The reason...it made me so tired that I slept through most of it.
I've been sick for the past three weeks but am now getting better.
However, my siblings are now sick with what's being filed under
"Upper Respiratory Infection"
At least they had the courtesy to wait until I was well enough to take care of them before they got sick.
Sunday my little brother had a fever and his cheeks were bright red.
He looked cute with bright red cheeks so I had to take a picture before they vanished.
It turned out blurry but here it is anyway.
